I can put up with the squirrels from the oak tree at the end of my garden pinching the bird seed from my plastic feeders, but after they had chewed away at the feeding hole surrounds, causing the perches to fall off, and the seed fall out onto the ground, enough was enough! These Chapelwood stainless steel feeders stop all that, even squirrel's teeth can't chomp through the metal. I was worried in this recent hot weather that the metal perches would get too hot for the goldfinches' feet, but no problems ! Well worth the expense in my view.

Having used this type of feeder before, I bought it as a present for someone else. It worked very well and attracted small birds quite soon.
As many as four birds can use it at the same time, and they often do. One tip, place the feeder so that it cannot be reached by pidgeons or squirrels -- I separately bought a feeder hook-and-pole that can be put in the garden lawn or earth or, with a weight, put on a patio.
